An African Oasis

After settling in Dakar, Senegal for about two months, it was time for a quick trip. For one, I can’t sit still for weeks at a time, and two, Dakar is a hustling and bustling city with millions of people. Yes, it’s no small African town. So when a friend suggested an Eco Lodge with tree houses built inside the famous African Baobabs, I didn’t hesitate. Tell me when and where!

I was completely blown away by this place. It was so serene, tranquil and just a place to think, listen to the birds and be with your own thoughts. Not only is it eco-friendly but completely removed from all things distracting (yes no WiFi!). It gave me to opportunity to stop and appreciate nature and the beauty that Senegal has to offer.

Collines de Niassam was the perfect oasis. It’s beautifully designed tree houses and Laguna lodges make you feel at one with nature. There are only a few houses so it gives the feeling that you are there alone. The restaurant on site, makes it so that you don’t even have to leave the lodge. With locally sourced food, fresh juices, homemade bread and even Baobab jam! There are also day trips, hikes and visits that the lodge can set up for you. A bit pricy but worth totally worth a trip.  Not to mention it is an absolute photoshoot heaven.
